A Closer Look at the SkyView Wind Uplift System
SkyView Wind Uplift System Overview

To meet the demands of high wind environments, the Unilock SkyView Wind Uplift System keeps roof top paving surfaces secure, even in severe weather conditions. The system consists of three parts:

  1. SkyView Pedestals
  2. SkyView Wind Uplift Kit
  3. Wind Uplift Slabs

When combined, these components create a rafted paving surface with an invisible tie down mechanism that resists wind uplift pressures without compromising project aesthetics.

SkyView Wind Uplift System: Component Features & Functions

Each component of the SkyView Wind Uplift System plays a vital role in providing a stable foundation for roof deck surfacing materials. Explore their features and functions to see how they work together to create a complete and reliable system.
COMPONENT’S BASIC FUNCTION
ADDITIONAL FEATURES & FUNCTIONS

WIND UPLIFT SLAB
Acts as the foundation of the pedesta

Large Surface Area: The 49 square inch Base provides a stable foundation for the system and aids in load distribution.

Textured Dome: The convex dome on the top of the Base fits into the concave socket on the botom of the Cores, allowing orbital movement to adjust for slopes up to 6%. Its textured surface improves the connection between the base and cores.

PUCK

Screws into the top of the Skyview Pedestal, providing a secure point for attaching the Keyway Lockdown Bar.

KEYWAY LOCKDOWN BAR

A dovetail-shaped bar that locks into the kerf cut of the wind uplift slabs, anchoring them to the pedestals.

SCREW

Used to fasten the Keyway Lockdown Bar to the puck

BASE
Acts as the foundation of the pedestal

Large Surface Area: The 49 square inch Base provides a stable foundation for the system and aids in load distribution.

Textured Dome: The convex dome on the top of the Base fits into the concave socket on the botom of the Cores, allowing orbital movement to
adjust for slopes up to 6%. Its textured surface improves the connection between the base and cores.

Drainage Holes: A collection of holes in the Base allows for proper water drainage while maintaining its structural integrity.

V-Notches: Each side of the Base features a v-shaped notch to assist in aligning a field of pedestals

WASHER
Secures a ‘Core’ to the ‘Base’

Curved Profile: The bottom of the Washer mimics the socket shape on the Cores to ensure a flush connection when installing a Core on the Base.

TOP
Provides a large, stable surface to lay surfacing materials

Large Surface Area: The 49-square-inch top provides an ideal footprint to support various surfacing materials, including concrete slabs, wood tiles, natural stone, porcelain tile, and grates.

3/16” Tabs: The top has four 3/16-inch tabs, one on each side, to ensure fast and easy alignment when installing surfacing materials such as concrete slabs.

Sight Hole: Allows the installer to visually verify full engagement of the Top with the Core, ensuring a secure connection between the two components.

5” CORE & 10” CORE
Extends the pedestal height

Textured Socket: The concave socket on the bottom of the Core fits onto the convex dome on the Base, allowing orbital movement to adjust for slopes up to 6%. Its textured surface improves the connection between the base and cores

COLLAR
Connects two ‘Cores’ together

Center Engagement Ring: The collar has a protruding ring on the inside at the mid point of its height. When connecting two cores, full engagement is reached when the ring prevents further tightening of both cores.

1/2” WIND UPLIFT WAFFLE
Acts as a pedestal for
low-profile applications

Waffle Design: When stacking multiple Waffles, the component’s design allows them to interlock, preventing lateral movement and improving structural stability.

3/16” Tabs: The Top features four 3/16” inch tabs at the center of all sides to facilitate easy and fast alignment when installing surfacing materials.

TOP PAD
Placed on the ‘Top’ to aid in noise dampening and grip.

Rubber Pad: The Top Pad is made from rubber which aids in sound dampening, shock absorption, and grip
